Allergy Clinic
The number of people in Britain suffering from allergies is increasing by 5% each year, with one in four people affected at some stage in their lives.
Allergies are caused by exposure to a substance which provokes an exaggerated reaction of the immune system. Despite being very common it is not known why some of us get allergies and not others. Common allergies include pollen, dust mite, pets and common foods such as milk or eggs. These can cause debilitating symptoms to the sufferer such as wheezing, runny noses, itchy eyes and ears through to more serious conditions such as asthma, eczema, lethargy and frequent headaches.
Our Allergy Clinic encompass the services of a Consultant Dermatologist as well as a dietician and clinic nurse. Initial consultations will assess which allergens in your environment might be a cause and will take approximately one hour. Following your consultation further investigations such as skin or blood tests may be recommended. Your consultant will discuss and agree a personalised management plan with you.
