Joint and muscle injuries

Joint and muscle pains are very common. However, although joint and muscle problems account for almost 20% of GP consultations, many people do not seek help from their GP as they tend to believe joint or muscle problems and the pain they cause can not be helped or are a symptom of old age.

Joint pain may start off as a niggling problem but, if left untreated, it can cause debilitation, especially in later life.  By combining the latest medical techniques with his expertise in joints and muscles, Dr Cameron can help you find a solution to a wealth of experience in a wide spectrum of joint and muscle problems, including:

Back pain

Back pain affects almost all of us at some time in our lives and frequently leads to pain, distress and time away from work.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome causes very unpleasant pins and needles in the hand and, on occasions, pain.

Frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder, which is also known as ‘adhesive capsulitis’, can be triggered by an injury or it can develop gradually without any obvious trigger. Frozen Shoulder can cause severe pain and stiffness but it is not a form of arthritis and it will not develop into arthritis.

Gout

Gout, which causes agonising pain, inflammation and swelling in one or more joints, usually affects the big toe, but can develop in any joint in the body.  Dr Cameron can provide expert help and advice to relieve the agony of gout, including information about the dietary changes that can reduce the risk of an attack.

Heel pain

The severe pain caused by a heel spur can be almost unbearable at times but there are a range of options to help patients deal with this problem.

Osteoarthritis

Dr Cameron has extensive experience of using innovative new approaches such as Supartz, Ostenil and Orthovisc injections to relieve the crippling joint pain caused by osteoarthritis.

Neck pain

Dr Cameron has years of experience of dealing with neck pain and, in particular, neck pain which spreads to the shoulders.  He is highly-skilled in diagnosing exactly where the pain originates, the best ways it can be treated and, if he can, providing the treatment.

Shoulder pain

The shoulder joints move almost constantly and neglected shoulder problems can result in long-term disability and pain.

Sports injuries

A visit to Dr Cameron as soon as possible after an injury has occurred will enable him to provide the expert advice and care required to help prevent a sport-related injury becoming chronic or persistent.

Tennis elbow

Tennis elbow causes pain at the outer side of the elbow while golfer’s elbow causes pain at the inside of the elbow – both conditions are the result of over-use rather than playing a particular sport.  Tennis elbow and golf elbow can be hard to treat but Dr Cameron has an enviable track record in the successful treatment of both of these conditions.

Whiplash

Thousands of people suffer whiplash injuries every year and the resulting neck and/or back pain often proves difficult to treat. Dr Cameron explores the major issues surrounding a whiplash injury and get to the very root of the problem.
