Obstetric scanning

As part of our diagnostic services, The Edinburgh Clinic offers a comprehensive antenatal scanning service throughout all stages of pregnancy.  Our female Consultant Obstetrician, Dr Catherine Calderwood, personally performs all scans as well as providing advice and reassurance.

We have a specialist 4D ultrasound scanner that provides unbelievably detailed images of the baby in the womb.

What happens at a scan?

There is no preparation needed before your scan and you are welcome to bring your partner, friend or member of your family with you. Report printouts will be sent to your GP and obstetrician afterwards.

What scans are available?

• Early pregnancy or viability scan
• Nuchal transluency scan and blood test (for Down syndrome)
• Early reassurance scan
• Anomaly scan
• Fetal wellbeing scan
• Cervical length measurement
• 3D and 4D pregnancy scans
