Professional Information

Dr McKnight has special clinical interests in all aspects of diabetes mellitus as well as treatment and prevention of vascular disease. He also specialises in assessment and management of outpatients and inpatients with general medicine conditions.

Dr McKnight leads the diabetes service in Lothian. He believes in developing a longterm relationship with people who have a chronic condition such as diabetes to provide expert support and advice.

In the NHS, Dr McKnight is involved in the assessment and management of patients presenting acutely to the Western General Hospital. He sees a wide range of patients with general medical conditions.

Research Interests

Particular research interests include diabetes, vascular risk assessment and hypertension.
