Dr Trimble qualified in Medicine in Dublin, with postgraduate and specialist training in Dublin, London and Edinburgh.
He has been a Consultant specialist in gastroenterology since 1995, working initially in Fife and now at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and The Edinburgh Clinic.
He has a wide experience in general Gastroenterology including the management of inflammatory bowel disease, acid/peptic disease, and GI malignancy, and specialist expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and enteroscopy.
He has a subspecialty interest in functional gut disorders and the role of the gut nervous system in GI disease, including expertise in oesophageal physiology techniques.
He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, and the clinical lead for endoscopy and the oesophageal lab at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
