She did specialist fellowships in hip and knee surgery in Sydney Australia and in London.

She is Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Honorary Senior Lecturer, The University of Edinburgh.

She has undertaken Prize-winning research into prevention of infections in orthopaedic surgery patients, and cartilage repair in the young adult knee.

She has recently been selected to represent the UK on the prestigious ABC Tour of centres of orthopaedic research excellence in Canada and the USA.
