His main areas of clinical practice are arthroscopic surgery of the knee and ankle, ligament reconstruction of the knee and ankle and primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty
An area of particular interest is the management of sports injuries
He is a member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine and has regular clinics at the Fitness Assessment and Sports Injury Clinic at the University of Edinburgh, as well as fortnightly sports injury clinics at St Johns Hospital in Livingston
He is one of a group of Orthopaedic Surgeons providing orthopaedic expertise for the Scottish Rugby Union and is currently the Orthopaedic Surgeon for Livingston Football Club and Hibernian Football Club in Edinburgh
His base NHS hospital is the New Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh where, in addition to knee surgery, he is a member of the arthroplasty team
He performs both primary and revision knee and hip arthroplasty with his own practice providing much of the orthopaedic care for the Edinburgh Haemophilia Service

I became a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1997 and am married with three children. Educated in Edinburgh and a graduate of Edinburgh University, I played rugby for Edinburgh Schools and Edinburgh University where I gained a rugby 'Blue'. I also played at representative level for Scottish Universities and Edinburgh District. As a family we play tennis regularly and go skiing whenever possible.
