Mr Annan has been a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Edinburgh since 1987. He has an honorary Senior Lecturer appointment with the University of Edinburgh
Having previously had a very general practice including trauma and elective surgery, he now specialises in arthroplasty surgery but continues to manage children with fractures and other injuries
In addition he carries out a significant volume of foot surgery
Training. He is the College Regional Advisor for Orthopaedic Surgery and is actively involved in the training of junior doctors as a trainer and as an educational supervisor
He has been chairman of the South East of Scotland Specialty training committee for the past 10 years and is a member of the national Specialty Advisory Committee in Orthopaedic Surgery
He is an examiner for the Inter Collegiate Fellowship Examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
