Mr Jeff Reid

Professional information

Mr Reid is a fully qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder and upper limb surgery. He specializes in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery.

His clinics are structured to swiftly form accurate diagnoses, and apply focused treatment. His practice is audited to maintain standards of excellence in patient care. He qualified from the world-renowned Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto, Canada in 2003.

He came to Scotland specifically to complete Specialist Fellowship Training in Upper Limb Surgery at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary under Miss Julie McBirnie and Mr. Mike Robinson.

He also trained in Elbow Surgery under Mr Lech Rymascewski at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Since 2005 he has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he performs elective upper limb and trauma surgeries.

He is the Program Director for the South East Scotland Deanery, responsible for the training of all Specialist Registrars in Edinburgh. He finds this and his other academic activities keep him up to date with latest advances in his field.

Other information

I live in Edinburgh with my wife and our new baby boy. My activities outside of work include cycling, fly fishing, Munro climbing and gardening.
