Mr. Nutton’s professional practice is concentrated on adult reconstruction surgery in the lower limb and shoulder surgery.
His surgical practice in hip and knee arthroplasty covers 130 primary joint replacements a year and approximately 20 revision cases.
He has a particular interest in the outcome of knee replacement surgery which has been the subject of an ongoing research study over the last five years.
He is interested in sport and sports-related injury which has been a focus for his work over the last 20 years.
His interest is chiefly in developing surgical skills in knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery and training other surgeons in these techniques.
Knee ligament injury has been a major interest too, in particular complex instability of the knee and the challenge of surgical reconstruction and rehabilitation.
He has also had a longstanding interest in shoulder disorders and their management using arthroscopic surgery and open surgical repair, which has also involved close partnership with physiotherapists in upper limb rehabilitation.
Other information
A lifelong passion for sport has evolved in recent years into watching more than playing, but with two sons who are talented sportsmen I am reliving my unfulfilled ambitions through them (no pressure boys!) I play golf, badly, and enjoy outdoor sports of the other kind, namely fishing, stalking and shooting whenever I get the time or, more importantly, the invitation.
