Professional information
Mr Tony Riddick graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1992. He gained a wide experience across all urological subspecialties in the East Anglian urological training scheme, including training in Addenbrookes, Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich.
Since he took up his current post as Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Western General Hospital and St Johns Hospital, he has provided both a general urology service and subspecialist uro-oncological service.
He has a keen interest in kidney cancer, providing a comprehensive laparoscopic and open surgical service underpinned by robust surgical audit.
Mr Riddick also sees Bladder cancer and Prostate cancer as keen interests and he has enjoyed establishing a team that provides a subspecialist prostate cancer service at St John’s hospital, Livingston.
Most recently, he has lead the pilot of the use of Green Light Laser vapourisation of the prostate for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
He established key techniques in the banking of prostate cancer tissues for research studies and identified some important genes in prostate cancer.
He continues to publish actively in high impact journals. Committed to Urological training in Scotland, Tony is the program director for higher surgical training in urology for the east side of Scotland.
He also teaches on the core skills in urology course in the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and contributes to courses run by the British Association of Urologists.
