Consultation

Before you come in for your first appointment it is almost certain that all your notes and test results will already have been forwarded to the consultant you are going to see.

In anticipation of your first appointment your consultant will probably have been pre briefed on your symptoms before by the referrer (maybe your GP, sports physician, physio etc). Your medical notes and previous scans will have been uploaded onto our sophisticated and secure patient information system which allows the consultant to immediately view your notes and medical scans at the purpose built consultants desk. Your first consultation will last anything from 30 minutes to 45 minutes which will provide the consultant plenty of time to review your medical history, examine you and above all answer any questions you may have concerning your treatment route. The consultant will then make a formal report which is digitally transcribed and we immediately type these into your records. Your Report will then be copied to your consultant and GP (and or other medical referrer) and yourself (if you request it) for further discussion.

During an examination a chaperone is often required and one of our nursing staff will always be available to do this and take any blood samples that may be required. This is necessary to assist your consultant and speed up your diagnosis.

Your consultant may recommend that you undergo imaging. The clinic can normally carry this out immediately. However, it may be necessary for you to undergo certain preparatory steps for your imaging and in such a case the reception staff would organise an appointment with you at your convenience.

Unlike many other medical environments are consulting rooms are large and welcoming , individually heat and light controlled, with designer tear drop desks to meet with your consultant and  discrete examination areas . Each room has been CAT6 wired and a sophisticated IT system installed to view your patient records (quickly and securely) and display your radiological scans on wide screen high definition monitors. Gone are the days when the consultant holds up the X Ray to the light!

The Four Nations Consulting Room – we’ve christened one of our consulting rooms The Four Nations. There is a lot of history behind our unique Victorian mansion including a unique stained glass hall window all painstakingly restored! But the Four Nations room is causing a lot of intrigue – ask to see it and why it carries this famous name!
