All you need to know about Breast Augmentation surgery

02/03/2018

What happens before the surgery?

You will undergo an evaluation and consultation process which will give you all the information you need to help you decide on the shape and size of your breasts. You will also learn about the different types of implants available so that you can make an informed choice about which to go for. Our selection of implants are FDA approved and of the highest quality.

The surgical team will also ensure you are fully comfortable with what you can expect from the procedure, the after care and the final results.

How big should I go?

Breast enlargement surgery is somewhat misrepresented in the press. Most women who choose to undergo the procedure do not opt for exceptionally large implants but rather desire a more subtle look to better fit their frame or improve their appearance in certain clothing.

Your surgeon can provide all the information you need on the range of different size and shape options. Each case is individual and as with any cosmetic surgery decision, it is important that you take your time to ensure you are happy with your choice.

What happens during the breast enlargement process?

A general anaesthetic will be administered for the procedure which typically takes one or two hours. The surgeon will make a small incision underneath each breast, where the natural crease in your skin occurs. This is where the implants of your choice will be inserted.

The implants will be correctly positioned and the incisions will be sutured to complete the procedure.

What happens after the surgery?

There will be a degree of swelling and soreness immediately after your procedure but medical staff will advise you on what sort of painkillers are best to minimise any discomfort. It will take time for your new breasts to drop into a natural position and for all swelling to go down so it may take a few weeks for you to see the final results.

The healing process is different for everyone but it is advisable to take one or two weeks off work to recover. It is essential to avoid exerting yourself physically especially anything involving lifting.

You will also need to wear a special bra, provided by the medical team, which will protect your new breasts and provide added support for a specified amount of time.

Will there be much scarring?

As the implants are inserted under the breasts, in the natural crease of your body, the scars will be tucked away and hidden from view when you are wearing swimwear and underwear. Over time and with the proper after care, most scars will fade to your natural skin tone.

How much does breast enlargement surgery cost?

This varies greatly according to individual requirements. If you believe that breast enlargement surgery could be right for you, contact us to book a consultation.
