Regional anaesthesia – alone and in conjunction with general anaesthesia to improve patient comfort and reduce need for other pain relief medications –
Medical safety and human factors – lead for simulation at RIE and teacher at Scottish Clinical simulation Centre
Trained at Edinburgh University and, after short time in Bristol, I completed my professional training in Edinburgh and South East Scotland with a one year fellowship in Auckland, NZ.
As well as my NHS clinical duties, I teach medical students at Edinburgh University and set-up and run the exam training course for anaesthetists about to sit their final professional exams.
I also run the Edinburgh Anaesthesia festival – an annual 3 day international medical conference.
Ongoing research interests in improving anaesthesia equipment safety and the use of simulation to improve patient safety
