Dr Khan is a Consultant Ophthalmologist working in the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Edinburgh. He completed medical school in Edinburgh and then returned home to Yorkshire for his initial training. He then went on to train in the South East of Scotland, with advanced vitreo-retinal training in Edinburgh and in the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. He performs all types of vitreo-retinal surgery including surgery for floaters, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinal detachments and complications following cataract surgery.
Dr Khan takes an active role in postgraduate education and is currently an educational supervisor and college tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He also leads on the ophthalmic theatres users group, improving and modernising the equipment used in theatres across the Lothians.
