Training & background:

Dr Adamson graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1994. She has been a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine since 2007. Her PhD is on the immunology of endocrine autoimmune disease, and was awarded in 2005 from the University of Edinburgh. Her interests include endocrine autoimmune disease e.g. thyroid disease, Addison’s disease, however, her NHS practice encompasses the full range of endocrine disorders including pituitary disease, calcium disorders and PCOS.
In her diabetes practice, she takes a person centered approach. Her interests are in the newer drugs used in Type 2 diabetes, and all aspects of Type 1 diabetes.
She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and has a keen interest in medical education, and is currently completing a Master in Clinical Education. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.

Dr Adamson was recently featured in the Kirsty Wark documentary “The insiders guide to the Menopause”
