Dr Stephen Miller graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2007, having also graduated with First Class Honours in Sports Medicine in 2004. He completed his Foundation Training at various hospitals throughout Edinburgh and Fife, before spending a year in Sydney, Australia, working in Emergency Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine. His GP training was based in Edinburgh, concluding in 2013. Thereafter, he gained postgraduate qualifications in Sports & Exercise medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine, while working part-time as a GP partner and part-time in sports.
Dr Miller now works full-time in Sports and Exercise Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine, with regular clinics in the NHS (based in East Lothian) and for the Military. He is also club doctor for Hibernian FC, a post he has held for five years. He has experience of working in both high performance and development level sport, having worked at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, the World Athletics Championships in London in 2017, and most recently as a team lead at the Polyclinic at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow. On an ad-hoc basis, he provides medical cover and support to Scottish Rugby and the SFA at a development level. He recently gained CASE accreditation for diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, and uses this regularly in his practice. He enjoys teaching fellow professionals, and is involved in the education of both GP trainees and physiotherapists.
Dr Miller lives in Portobello with his wife and little boy, and enjoys running.
