I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon working with a specialist interest in Prostate Cancer diagnostics, Robotic prostate cancer surgery and also General Urology. I am employed by NHS Lothian and work in Edinburgh at the Western General Hospital, St Johns Hospital and Roodlands Hospital.

I completed medical school at Trinity College in Dublin. I then moved to Edinburgh following my basic surgical training and completed my PhD on the use of elasticity as a biomarker for prostate cancer. I completed my higher surgical training in Urology on the East of Scotland training scheme. During this time, I did an in-training fellowship in prostate cancer with a focus on robotic prostate cancer surgery in Edinburgh. After completing surgical training, I carried out a preceptorship in the USA at the Cleveland Clinic and spent time visiting high-volume robotic surgeons in the US. In 2020, I led the introduction of local anaesthetic transperineal prostate (LATP) biopsy into NHS Lothian using Precision Point and continue to run this,

A keen educator, I am involved in postgraduate teaching and research supervision within the University of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University. I am also heavily involved in research, with 2 large NIHR UK-wide trials (TRANSLATE & PART), and am co-investigator on a prostate cancer imaging trial (PRISTINE) and other trials. I also hold my own research grant.
