In the NHS I have a wide practice. I undertake major complex surgery, often with other surgical specialties for reconstruction whether from trauma or cancer. This service takes me from head to toe! I provide significant support in this work to the orthopaedic service for sarcoma work and prosthetic salvage, as well as trauma.
I provide routine hand surgery as well as complex post-trauma reconstruction.
I provide laser surgery for vascular lesions, pigmented lesions including tattoos, and skin resurfacing.
I provide aesthetic training in the NHS, plus assist with the major head and neck surgery workload and the cleft service.
This background allows cross fertilisation and skill mix into my private practice which is primarily involves cosmetic surgery, although I also provide services across the broad spectrum of plastic surgery including burns reconstruction and breast reconstruction.
Each consultant sets their own fees. To find out how much Mr Stuart Hamilton charges for a consultation, please visit their profile on the Public Health Information Network (PHIN) website here
I trained in Glasgow, graduating in 1991. I took a path of extensive multi-specialty training in Glasgow and in England prior to going into Plastic Surgery. This has stood me in good stead for my current diverse reconstructive practice.
I started Plastic Surgery in 1995 working in Swansea, then spent two years in Cambridge before returning North, first to Dundee and then Edinburgh, where they decided to keep me!
Outside of surgery, I enjoy my family and the fresh air. I have undertaken marathons and triathlons, and now enjoy wearing out my knees on the ski slopes. I recently became a Leader for the British Ski Club with a long trip to Verbier this season as a reward!
