The Edinburgh Clinic is open

The Edinburgh Clinic is pleased to announce that it has resumed services on a phased basis from Monday 18 January 2021. The Clinic had closed after the festive break in line with Tier 4 restrictions and Health Improvement Scotland guidance.

At The Edinburgh Clinic, we know these are worrying and challenging times, but we remain here for you when you need medical care, treatment and services.

The Edinburgh Clinic is open with the following services available for patients in the first instance:

We are constantly reviewing our service provision and look forward to resuming full service as soon as possible. The safety of our patients and staff is our utmost priority. We sincerely appreciate your support and understanding at this time.

Prioritising patient safety

Patient safety is of paramount importance to us at The Edinburgh Clinic.

As we resume clinical services, we are further strengthening our already stringent patient safety measures. This will further protect our patients, staff and consultants from Covid-19.

In addition to extensive cleaning across the Clinic, patient screening measures, mandatory face mask rules and social distancing measures, we have taken the additional new steps to guard against the coronavirus:

  • All staff at The Edinburgh Clinic are currently being vaccinated against Covid-19
  • Lateral flow testing will also be provided to all patient-facing staff, providing further protection to our patients and team
  • All patients booked in for surgery requiring general anaesthetic will receive a Covid test 72 hours prior to the procedure and advised to isolate until the operation
  • All patients booked in for procedures requiring local anaesthetic will be risk assessed beforehand, and may receive a Covid test 72 hours prior to the operation and advised to isolate until the procedure.

The other health and safety measures we are taking at The Edinburgh Clinic are listed below.

To protect staff, patients and visitors from Covid-19, we have introduced screening for all patients and visitors to our facilities. All patients who are attending an appointment and those who are being admitted as a day patient will undergo screening. Any visitors to our facilities will also be screened before they can enter. This includes all business partners and suppliers.

Hand hygiene
Maintaining good hand hygiene is essential to reduce the transmission of infection in health care settings. Please make sure to use hand sanitiser or hand wash as you enter the clinic. Please also ensure that you practice good hand hygiene while you are in the clinic.

Respiratory hygiene
Patients, staff and visitors are encouraged to minimise potential COVID-19 transmission through good respiratory hygiene measures. Disposable, single-use tissues should be used to cover the nose and mouth when sneezing, coughing or wiping and blowing the nose; used tissues should be disposed of promptly in the nearest waste bin. Please remember to keep your hands away from the eyes, mouth and nose.

Social distancing and Queuing
We are working very hard to maintain social distancing wherever possible. You will notice signage and markings to help with guiding you around our facilities and showing you where to stand and queue. Please help us to help you by following the directions in place. If you are unsure where you should walk or stand, our staff will be happy to help you.

Patients undergoing procedures

  • Any patients undergoing a procedure will have additional risk assessment for Covid-19 and will be tested
  • Patients will be asked to self-isolate prior to their procedure
  • Any patient utilising our day case facilities will be socially distanced and we will use screens/privacy curtains to minimise opportunities for close contact
  • There may be times when you are in our clinic when you may be asked to wear a face mask when moving between departments. We will provide you with an appropriate mask.

Hospital cleanliness
Be assured that The Edinburgh Clinic is cleaned professionally in line with government guidance to prevent the spread of Covid-19. All patient rooms are thoroughly cleaned each day and between patients.

We are restricting all visitors to The Edinburgh Clinic apart from essential visitors only.

Patient flow control
We are implementing patient flow controls to manage occupancy and the flow of people through the clinic.

With the new variant of Covid-19 increasing the transmissibility of the virus, we are constantly reviewing our safety measures to ensure the safety of our patients and team.

Please read our leaflet: Coming into Hospital for Consultations,Intervention and Treatment or watch the video below to learn more about how we are working to keep you safe.
