The Edinburgh Clinic is a private day-case facility where all consultations, scans and treatments are charged for.
We welcome insured patients and those who choose to self-pay private treatment. You will require a referral from your GP or healthcare provider to many services available at The Edinburgh Clinic – simply request a private referral to The Edinburgh Clinic.
Before you make an appointment we will inform you of the cost of your initial consultation. We aim to provide an indication of what anticipated costs will be incurred, and a competitively priced bespoke cost is available once your consultant has provided full assessment.
The cost of any consultation, diagnostic test or treatment should be settled in advance or when you attend the clinic for your particular appointment. Our reception team can process credit and debit card payments on-site or you can pay with cash, cheque or BACS. The reception staff will also ensure that any further appointments are made with you at this time. Please view our terms-and-conditions relating to payment for day-case patients.
Some of our consultants charge for their own consultation fees, while others have asked us to bill patients on the consultant’s behalf. If your consultant manages his own billing you will receive two separate charges – one from your consultant, and one from the Clinic. If the Clinic charges on behalf of your consultant you will receive one bill which will cover the cost of both aspects of your visit to The Edinburgh Clinic. The Edinburgh Clinic facility is accepted by all major insurers. Coverage of treatment differs across insurance providers.
It is essential you contact your insurer to confirm they will cover the costs of any treatment.
You must do this before you have a consultation, investigation, any diagnostic imaging or surgery. Once you have authorisation, your insurer will issue you with an authorisation
number or claim form, which you must bring with you when you come into Midland Eye for your appointment.
We can arrange direct settlement of bills with most insurance companies.
In the event that it is not possible for us to do this or you do not have proof of authorisation from your insurance company, we will ask you to settle your account personally and then you will have to seek reimbursement from your insurer.
Please note that you must also bring your Membership number which may also be called a policy number or a plan number when attending any appointments.
We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee if you cancel any appointment at The Edinburgh Clinic within seven days of your scheduled appointment or admission date.
