At The Edinburgh Clinic, our experienced ophthalmology consultants diagnose and treat patients with a range of eye problems, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) which is the leading cause of blindness in people over 50 years of age in the UK.
What is Age-Related Macular Degeneration?
Age-related macular degeneration is an eye disorder in which the central retina – the macula – becomes damaged, leading to a reduction in central vision. It affects the central (detail) vision, but normally leaves the outer (peripheral) vision unaffected.
What treatments are available?
