At The Edinburgh Clinic, our experienced ophthalmology consultants diagnose and treat patients with a range of eye problems, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) which is the leading cause of blindness in people over 50 years of age in the UK.
What is Age-Related Macular Degeneration?
Age-related macular degeneration is an eye disorder in which the central retina – the macula – becomes damaged, leading to a reduction in central vision. It affects the central (detail) vision, but normally leaves the outer (peripheral) vision unaffected.
What treatments are available?
Injections for AMD
When you come for a consultation with one of our highly skilled ophthalmology surgeons, you'll have a detailed discussion with your doctor to go through any concerns or symptoms you might have. If you have booked a treatment with us, you can rest assured that you will receive exceptional quality treatment, which is delivered by some of the best ophthalmologists in the country.
If you require AMD treatments our team can offer a range of advanced treatments including injections for macular degeneration.
