Hand & Wrist Problems

Few things in our body are put through as much stress and strain as our hands and wrists. Almost everything we do will include using our fingers, for example, or movement of the hand/wrist.

To help give us the range of flexibility and accuracy of movement we need, our hand and wrist area is made up of 27 fragile bones, many of them tiny. These are supported by a network of muscles, tendons, nerves and ligaments. With so many ‘moving parts’, it is no surprise that injuries and problems can occur so often.

If you have pain from your hand or wrist, we’re here to help. We can offer comprehensive, fast and specialist orthopaedic treatment for hand & wrist problems from Dupuytren’s disease and painful cysts under the skin, ‘Trigger finger’, tendonitis, cartilage tear and even an unexpected fracture. Our highly trained orthopaedic specialists are renowned in their area expertise. They can offer reassurance, peace of mind and support throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.

The services available include rapid, point-of-care diagnostic imaging or screening of your hand & wrist to support an early diagnosis. This may include using the very latest MRI scanning facilities, ultrasound or conventional X-rays.

Once a diagnosis has been made, our orthopaedic specialists can suggest any follow-up treatment that you may need. These could include conservative management such as physiotherapy through to hand and nerve surgery including straightening of the fingers for people suffering from Dupuytren’s disease or treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Our team also works closely with our physiotherapists to help you recover and regain mobility as quickly as possible.
