I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2005 and have since worked in a variety of settings throughout the UK and France in NHS and private healthcare environments. I work as a Hand therapist within The Edinburgh Clinic.

Christine Phillips, Diploma in Physiotherapy

  • Assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand problems.
  • Physiotherapy treatment of musculoskeletal problems including hand splinting.

Training & background:

I trained at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh, graduating in 1983. I have worked in the NHS since then and have spent almost my entire career in Orthopaedics. In 1986, I moved to Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital, Edinburgh and worked there until it closed and moved to the Royal Infirmary, Little France, in 2001. For about 18 years, my special interest has been upper limbs and my current NHS post is as an Upper Limb Specialist, working in Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy at the Royal Infirmary. This involves working closely with the upper limb surgeons and radiologists. I have also worked privately in rugby clubs and private practice for many years and have been at the Edinburgh Clinic since 2008.

Training & background:

Rani graduated from M.S Ramaiah Medical College (Bangalore), India in 2009. Following this, she worked at various private clinics and hospital settings across India. In 2012, she graduated with an MSc (Msk Physio) Degree from Sheffield Hallam University.  Following this, she completed a Mphil from Keele University.  Her research work included ‘‘Developing a non-invasive method for in vivo monitoring of forearm flexor tendon excursions during rehabilitation following surgical tendon repair’’.

During her Mphil studies, she worked in Bagshot Park Rehabilitation Centre, Surrey and after graduating and joined BMI Kings Park Hospital, Stirling as a MSK Physiotherapist working with both inpatients and outpatients.
