Rheumatology is the branch of general medicine concerned with the development, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the joints, bones, muscles and connective tissue.
At The Edinburgh Clinic we aim to provide a prompt and modern approach to joint and muscle pain assessment which includes:

- Thorough clinical examination
- Mini-ultrasound scan of joints where required
- MRI, CT and DXA scanning when needed
- Antibody testing and genetic analysis where appropriate
- Internationally recognised diagnostic criteria
- Disease activity scoring e.g. for Rheumatoid Arthritis the DAS28
- Development of individualised patient care plans
- All patients receive copies of the clinical letters and results of investigations.

You will require a GP referral to our rheumatology services, simply ask for a private referral to The Edinburgh Clinic.
You can choose to self-fund or use private medical insurance to pay for private rheumatology consultation. If you choose to use private medical insurance we recommend that you check with your insurer whether treatment will be covered by your policy.
