What’s included in a private health screening and MRI scan?

ScanPlus

Our most comprehensive screening service is ScanPlus, in which you will spend significant time with different members of our team, including a nurse, a private GP and our imaging team.

ScanPlus includes:

• a general health assessment with a full examination, height, weight, body composition and urinalysis
• checks on your respiratory system including peak expiratory flow, oxygen saturation and Spirometry where peak flow suggests it necessary
• cardiovascular testing, to examine blood pressure and check for potential heart disease or diabetes
• a range of blood checks covering kidney, liver and thyroid function, plus checks for cholesterol and glucose levels and screening for prostate cancer or ovarian cancer.
• Examination of breasts or external genitalia
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan of head and torso

There is also the option to add additional screening services such as a full assessment of heart structure and function, full body molescreen, a DEXA scan (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) to assess bone density and check for Osteoporosis, and an eye assessment.

Other Health Screening Services

The Edinburgh Clinic also offers more specific screening services for those for whom ScanPlus may be more than is required. These include:

• Classic Health Assessment – featuring a medical examination, health and weight assessment, respiratory checks, urinalysis and blood testing for cholesterol and diabetes.
• Well Man Assessment – featuring the same checks as the Classic Assessment, plus further blood testing, assessment for diabetes and heart disease, thyroid function checks, external genitalia examination, review of testicular self-examination, screening for prostate cancer and more.
• Well Woman Assessment – featuring the same checks as the Classic Assessment, plus further blood testing, assessment for diabetes and heart disease, thyroid function checks, breast examination, review of breast self-examination, screening for Ovarian Cancer, and an optional Cervical Smear.
